Professional Profile

I have been a professional mental health practitioner for over 35 years now. Initially practising counselling skills with adults experiencing emotional management problems. I was based within a North of England National Health Service clinic between 2009 and 2014 working alongside the Improving Access to Psychological Therapies Team (I.A.P.T). This was in conjunction with holding the position of Senior Lecturer within the faculty of medicine and department of mental health  based in both the University of Sheffield and Sheffield Hallam University. More recently I've practised  therapeutic counselling with healthcare staff as a representative of a number of occupational health departments within the National Health Service.This has been alongside working with Emergency Service Personnel and performing artists in the entertainment industry. In addition I have helped to clinically supervise a large number of registered mental healthcare staff within the drug and alcohol services and prison service. I currently act as clinical supervisor for both qualified and student psychotherapists and counsellors , beside support and supervise the practices of a group psychoanalyst. I have attained certificate levels 1,2 and 3 in counselling skills and theoretical studies. Furthermore I hold a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling all of which were attained from  the Central Awarding Body for Counselling and Psychotherapy. I have practised integrated Person Centred Therapy with many adult clients within a refuge for the homeless in a North of England town. I currently practice therapeutic counselling on a private basis and within an agency setting with adults experiencing many different common and more complex mental health problems. 

Clinical Supervision:

I attend clinical supervision for up to 1.5 to 2 hours each month with a United Kingdom Counsel for Psychotherapy (U.K.C.P.) registered psychotherapist.

Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (B.A.C.P.).
