"A person is a fluid process, not a fixed and static entity; a flowing river of change, not a block of solid material; a continually changing constellation of potentialities, not a fixed quantity of traits."
- Carl Rogers
"We think we listen, but very rarely do we listen with real understanding, true empathy. Yet listening, of this very special kind, is one of the most potent forces for change that I know."
- Carl Rogers
COUNSELLING SERVICES
Person-centred Therapy
What is it?
Clinical Hypnotherapy
What is it?
Person-centred counselling is a humanistic approach that focuses on creating a supportive, non-judgmental therapeutic relationship in which clients can explore their feelings, experiences, and identities freely. Its foundations are based on three core conditions: empathy, unconditional positive regard, and congruence (genuineness). By providing these conditions, the counsellor can help a client to access their own inner resources, develop self-awareness, and move toward personal growth.
What is it?
Walk & Talk Therapy
Walk & talk therapy is a form of counselling conducted outdoors while walking side by side, combining the benefits of physical movement with the therapeutic process. This style of therapy can help clients feel more relaxed, grounded, and open, making it easier to discuss thoughts and emotions. When we walk, our eyes tend to navigate side to side, this can help to activate brain activity that promotes processing trauma/issues. The therapist maintains the same professional boundaries and therapeutic focus as in a traditional session.
Clinical hypnotherapy uses guided imagery and positive suggestion to help clients enter a deeper state of relaxation. Here, they can work more effectively with their subconscious state of mind. Clients can then become more receptive to positive suggestions and insights that support change, such as; reducing anxiety, managing pain, breaking habits, or improving confidence. The process is tailored to the individual, ensuring safety, collaboration, and a clear therapeutic aim. It helps the client to access their subconscious resources to assist in promoting healing and change.
Trauma-informed approach
A trauma-informed approach is a way of working that recognises the widespread impact of trauma and how it has affected/impacted an individuals life. It involves understanding how traumatic experiences can shape a person’s behaviour, reactions, and needs, and ensuring that support is delivered with respect, and sensitivity. Practitioners focus on building trust, avoiding re-traumatisation, and fostering collaboration so that clients can begin to understand why they have felt the way they have. Here, with a newfounded awareness, the healing and recovery process can begin. This can be challenging work, but it is carried out with compassion and kindness.
